The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) successfully uses Continuing Professional Development’s online CPD courses to enhance IPENZ CPD course offerings to their membership of professional engineers, technologists and technicians.

IPENZ is the premier membership institution for engineering professionals in New Zealand. It provides services for about 13,000 members, who are classified into various membership classes according to their levels of education and extent of experience. The Institution sets internationally bench-marked qualifying standards for degree qualifications in engineering thereby securing formal recognition for the professional standing of their members. IPENZ CPD courses assists members to maintain the currency of their competence by providing continuing professional development courses to assist with ongoing CPD requirements. IPENZ CPD courses are available to anyone who wishes to register, they are not limited to members only.
IPENZ also acts as the Registration Authority for Chartered Professional Engineers in New Zealand. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) is a statutory title and is the most important quality mark attesting to the current competence of a professional engineer in New Zealand. Chartered professional engineers must complete continuing professional development requirements to maintain their chartered status and their continuing competence is reviewed by IPENZ every 5 years.

IPENZ is the professional body which represents professional engineers from all disciplines in New Zealand. IPENZ is a signatory to the Washington Accord and the Sydney Accord. These Accords benchmark the skill sets required for professional engineers and engineering technologists across a range of countries including USA, UK, Australia, Canada and Japan.
IPENZ is also a signatory to the Engineers Mobility Forum, a multi-national agreement which creates the framework for the establishment of an international standard of competence for professional engineering.
This allows professional engineers to transfer their skills to different countries in the knowledge that systems exist to benchmark their qualifications, competence, experience and CPD.
